Remembering Voice Actress Russi Taylor
Acclaimed voice actress, Russi Taylor, passed away on Friday at the age of 75, and with her passing, a piece of our collective childhoods have gone with her.
Taylor lent her iconic voice to many characters, most notably Disney’s Minnie Mouse. A character she began voicing in the mid-1980’s in television, film, and attractions at Disney Theme Parks.
In a statement, Disney CEO Bob Iger said “Minnie Mouse lost her voice with the passing of Russi Taylor. For more than 30 years, Minnie and Russi worked together to entertain millions around the world—a partnership that made Minnie a global icon and Russi a Disney Legend beloved by fans everywhere.”
Taylor also voiced Nurse Mouse in The Rescuers Down Under, as well as characters in TaleSpin, The Little Mermaid, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Kim Possible, Sofia the First, The Lion Guard, and Tangled: The Series.
Fans of The Simpsons will also recognize Taylor as the voices of Martin Prince, twins Sherri and Terri; as well as Uter and occasionally Lewis Clark. She was heard in close to 200 episodes of the animated Fox series and 2007’s The Simpsons Movie.
Other notable characters include Strawberry Shortcake, Pebbles Flintstone, and Baby Gonzo.
