First Trailer for Waititi’s ‘Jojo Rabbit’ is Here
Back at the beginning of the year I listed out my twenty most anticipated films for 2019, and Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit was near the top before I ever saw a thing. Now that this trailer is out, I stand firm on that ranking.
Following this morning’s news of Jojo Rabbit’s upcoming premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, Waititi has revealed the first trailer for his latest effort, a dark comedy set during World War II where a young boy’s imaginary friend happens to be Adolf Hitler.
The trailer has a very, well… Waititi feel to it, as the Writer/Director also plays Hitler in the film. The humor is charming, and there promises to be plenty of dark charm to it.
Waititi had developed a following after directing What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople, but it was Thor: Ragnarok that put him over the top and landed him a permanent home with Marvel. Now Waititi seems to have the world at his fingertips and that should lead to more creative projects such as this.
Jojo Rabbit stars Thomasin McKenzie, Roman Griffin Davis, Rebel Wilson, Alfie Allen, Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant, and Scarlett Johansson, and hits theaters on October 18.
