SDCC 2019: The ‘Snowpiercer’ Series Gets First Trailer
Not many know that the 2013 fantasy thriller Snowpiercer, starring Chris Evans, was based off a comic book. So when the new series was announced, it seemed only right that they get their turn in the spotlight at San Diego Comic-Con.
First announced in 2015 (yes 4 years ago), Snowpiercer stars Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs as they live on a moving city where the inhabitants must deal with temperatures of around -119 Celsius. The people of the train appear to have been on this train for 6 years, 9 months, and 26 days and are separated into classes, causing a huge tension.
You can get more details in the debut trailer.
The series is based on french graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacque Lob and I am not completely sure if it is tied to the film, which is highly unlikely considering the film’s ending.
Graeme Mason, the co-creator of Orphan Black, will act as showrunner.
It’s interesting to see TBS get into big budget series, possibly trying to play at the level of the AMC and FX brands. This is all happening while network television seems to be losing their shows to streaming services. The landscape of TV and Streaming is changing, and we’ll be interested to see where everybody lands.
