Disney Premieres ‘Mulan’ Trailer at WC Final
Sports and Movies go together more than you think. It seems like every big game gives us a new trailer. And with the Women’s World Cup Final today (go USA!), Disney used that opportunity to premiere the first trailer for the live action remake of Mulan.
Liu Yifei will star as the main hero, Hua Mulan, and be joined by Ip Man and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Donnie Yen who is taking on the role of Commander Tung. Yoson An, Gong Li, Jason Scott Lee, Tzi Ma, Ron Yuan, Jimmy Wong, Doua Moua, and many more are joining the two in a cast that is looking to continue the wave of success these Disney live action movies are capturing. Niki Caro will be taking the helm of the new version from a screenplay written by Elizabeth Martin, Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver based on Disney’s Mulan by Guo Maoqian.
With Jon Favreau’s The Lion King out this month and Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin quietly brought in over $900 million worldwide, it seems only logical that Disney has a tease for this highly anticipated feature ready to go.
