E3 2019: ‘Halo Infinite’ News & Updates
Microsoft was busy at E3 this year, updating the world not only on the new games around the corner but also Project Scarlett.
Set to launch for the 2020 holiday, Project Scarlett is the codename for the upcoming Microsoft Xbox system. The system was teased last year at E3 and featured some more concrete details this year, including the most intriguing of its launch titles.
The Master Chief returns in Halo Infinite, the newest Halo title that has the burden of reviving one of Microsoft’s hottest franchises after the last couple of titles have taken a dip. There isn’t much on the game yet, no gameplay footage obviously, but a story-filled trailer debuted along with the details shared.
A new Slipspace Engine powers Halo Infinite, which 343 Industries has created specifically to power future Halo games and experiences. 343 Industries claims Halo Infinite is a “spiritual reboot” of Halo, with new characters and a “perfect starting point for new players” that haven’t played the game before.
“This story will mark the beginning of a new chapter and challenge for the Chief, but it will also respect and continue threads that led to this point,” says Chris Lee, studio head of Halo Infinite. “If you’ve never played a Halo game before, this will be a great place to jump into the story.”
