Netflix’s ‘The Dark Crystal’ Prequel Series Gets a Trailer
Netflix has dropped the first trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, the streaming platform’s upcoming prequel to the 1982 Jim Henson and Frank Oz movie The Dark Crystal. The series, based on J.M. Lee’s recent Dark Crystal companion novels Shadows of the Dark Crystal and Song of the Dark Crystal, appears to take place in the years immediately after an event described in the 1982 movie.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, already guaranteed to be at least ten hours of runtime, looks very faithful to the original Henson film, with proper updates on effects and shots. The so-called teaser does much more than tease, as the trailer gives us a solid look at the world that is created by names such as director Louis Leterrier, PBS producers Lisa Henson (Jim Henson’s daughter) and Halle Stanford, and creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.
Your main voices are courtesy of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel, but Netflix has released a statement that includes voice acting credits for Helena Bonham Carter, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, and Alicia Vikander. Among the actors voicing the Skeksis are Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Simon Pegg, and Andy Samberg.
