‘The Mandalorian’ Reportedly Picked Up For A 2nd Season
One of the most talked about subjects coming out of Star Wars Celebration Chicago was The Mandalorian, the first live action Star Wars show coming to the new Disney+ streaming service this November. For many of us that were lucky enough to see exclusive footage of the show, it left us anticipating the show more than Episode IX.
The buzz generating from a positive showing at Celebration must have been huge because reports are that season two has already picked up as Disney prepares for the future of their long awaited streaming service. Discussing Film has reported that not only has Disney picked up a second season, but they also have Jon Favreau set to return as the director.
I had heard throughout the convention that Disney was already happy with the reaction the show had been receiving, and a second season with Favreau was therefore eminent. Being that this is the first live action show ever from the Star Wars franchise, it being successful could open up places the franchise has never gone before. Because of all that, it sounds like Favreau was the perfect choice in opening this world.
He was the one that sparked the MCU with the first Iron Man film, and his Jungle Book is arguably the best of the live action Disney Remakes. The Mandalorian looks like it will be another project to add to his successful record for Disney. This though could be his biggest accomplishment for the company for a show that caters to maybe the biggest fandom in the world.
