Causeplay Shop Changing the Charity Game

Love to cosplay at charity events but wish you could do more to help? Causeplay Shop can give you a way to do that. If you haven’t heard of them, founder Meghan Marie started the shop in 2014 after previously working with Cosplay for a Cause. She wanted to be able to help a variety of different charities, whereas Cosplay for a Cause focuses on donating to the American, Japanese, USO, and Philippine Red Crosses with their most recent cause being Wildlife Conservation Society.

What really sets Causeplay Shop apart from other organizations, is the ability for the person who is donating a costume or prop to choose the charity that the funds generated from their donation will benefit. Past charities and donations have ranged from international to domestic, large to small with the money donated reaching over $10,000 to date. Their current auction is an Ame-Comi Mera cosplay created by Ashley Hay Design. Ashley chose the American Humane Society as the recipient of the auction proceeds due to her love for animals and her belief that we should all strive to make a better world for them.

While Causeplay Shop is still small, this now two-woman team of Meghan Marie and Lita Rebello looks to increase their impact by doing smaller auctions more frequently. Ideally, they will be auctioning a cosplay or prop once a month. The current auction runs until April 30. You can place your bid here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223493651955.
