Santa’s Got A Brand New Spidey-Suit
PS4 users create a big uproar and Insomniac listens?
As the old saying goes, “Ask and Ye Shall Receive”. Well fans of Insomniac Games “Spider-Man” on PS4 not only asked, but begged…and in some cases…belittled the game maker about the lack of a certain suit. That suit being the classic Sam Raimi suit Tobey Maguire sported in the 2002 super hero classic “Spider-Man,” and they received.
Insomniac Games announced on Thursday that the “Sam Raimi” suit is now available as downloadable content (DLC) on PS4. Simply titled “Webbed Suit”, it allows hardcore fans of everyone’s favorite web-slinger to relive the magic moment when they first saw the suit on-screen. But it’s not without controversy.
Many gamers out there are questioning if fans of the game deserved the Raimi Suit in their stockings, or if Insomniac Games should have told Santa to leave them a big lump of coal. On one hand, this suit WAS teased in August, but on the other hand, the design of the Raimi Suit IS licensed property, so getting permission to use it obviously takes some timely legal navigation.
But that didn’t stop fans from hounding Insomniac Games on the ol’ Twitter machine. From questions wondering if Insomniac’s developers were listening to the fans, to aggressive tweets calling the current selection of game suits trash, fans made their passion for the lack of the Raimi Suit ABUNDANTLY CLEAR! Insomnaic, however, didn’t always take the diplomatic approach to their responses. In one back and forth, a fan wrote “Come on, Insomniac. You said you were listening!” to which Insomniac repsonded “Listening doesn’t mean we always will do what people tell us to. We hear you. Hearing doesn’t mean we always act or follow.” YIKES!
Was that the proper way to respond?
I will leave that up to you to decide, but it DOES bring up the argument “Should gamers ALWAYS get their way?” Gamers are customers, and the “Customer is Always Right,” but are companies allowed to say no when they are hounded like Insomniac Games has been? Again, I will leave that up to you to decide, but in the meantime ENJOY! We have not only a classic suit, but also a new “Friendly Neighborhood” difficulty mode, frames, stickers, and filters in Photo Mode. The newest patch also addresses several issues in the “Silver Lining” DLC pack.
So, swing your troubles away this holiday season, and remember “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.” Happy Holidays!
