Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Beta Delayed
When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released last year, it offered players a massive open world to explore, uncover loot, hunt monsters and even fall in love. As if systematically wiping out the monster population was not a large enough task for gamers, developer CD Projekt Red also included a very addictive minigame to The Witcher 3 in the form of a collectible card game: Gwent. Following the smashing success of The Witcher 3, as well as fan feedback to the Gwent minigame, CD Projekt Red announced a standalone free-to-play Gwent game during E3 2016.
However, this week brought news of a delay in the timeline for releasing the Gwent closed beta. In an update posted on the Gwent website on August 10th, CD Projekt Red notified fans of the series that the closed beta for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game was being pushed back from September until October 25th. According to the update: “We know we can make a first impression only once, and want to be sure everything is ready before we blast off. Delivering a good game is more important to us than keeping a deadline.”
Players can still register for the Xbox One/PC closed beta via the Gwent website. The closed beta will also expand to Playstation 4 owners at a later time.
