‘The Magnificent Seven’ Trailer Sets Tone for Remake
Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai was not only a classic in its own right, but it has spawned a number of fantastic interpretations with the The Magnificent Seven being one of them. And in standard Hollywood fashion, the western classic about seven mercenaries defending a helpless town is getting a remake this year starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt.
With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, The Magnificent Seven looks intense as well as seems to be a strong candidate for ushering Denzel Washington back into being an intense action star. With Washington, Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, and a few other recognizable faces on board, you better check out this trailer for a remake that actually has us excited.
