‘Beacon of Hope’ Arrow 4.17 Recap
Warning: Our television series recaps contain spoilers of the episode being reviewed as well as episodes leading up to it.
This season of Arrow is really flying through this storyline. Unlike previous seasons, the character we thought was the big bad has already been caught and is now in jail. Shame on you Damien Darhk. You bad guy, you. Because of ol’ DD, Felicity was shot and paralyzed. But thanks to Michael Holt and his magic paralyzed-legs-computer-chip fixer thingy she can walk again! Huzzah!
The news is out though. The CEO of Palmer Tech was paralyzed and now she can walk. This week’s bad guy (well, girl actually) is in need of that magic chip. Do you remember the Bug-Eyed Bandit from that one episode of The Flash? The one that controls robot bees? The hot blonde chick that was also on The Walking Dead? Yup. Her. She’s back and this time’s she not stopping for nuttin’, honey.
The Bug-Eyed Bandit holds the board of Palmer Tech hostage unless Felicity hands over the prototype chip. Unfortunately, said prototype is lying at the base of Felicity’s spine. So now Felicity, her mom, and Thea are trapped in the building as well.
In case you missed it, Oliver and Felicity broke up and Felicity quit team Arrow. There goes their computer/hacker/nerd help. But oh wait! What’s this? Michael Holt accidentally discovers the Arrow cave? He’s their new nerdy/computer/hacker help? Whew. Just in time. Michael is understandably excited about this super hero adventure. He even says he had a terrific time. Get it? A terrific time? Okay, he totally becomes Mr. Terrific in the comics. Team Arrow, as usual, saves the day by shutting down all of the robot bees.
Damien Darhk is having a bit of a rough time in jail. He gets beat up by Murmur, who is a Flash villain in the comics, and his gang. Later Damien uses his connections to gain leverage over Murmur, starting his bid for power within the prison itself.
Finally, Merlyn finds the ace in the hole against team Arrow. Diggle’s brother. We all thought BroDig had reformed and turned against his old evil ways. Apparently not. This dude is bad news.
